Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone to pair up again?

Despite the personal disputes between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, they have successfully delivered super hit films starting from Bachna Ae HaseenoYeh Jawani Hai Deewani and the latestTamasha. It is true that we will never have enough of them and thankfully if reports are to be believed, the hit on-screen couple might reunite in Sajid Nadiadwala's next film.

As this is just the initial stage, we are unaware of the story and genre on which they will be working on. This film would be Sajid Nadiadwala's big announcement for 2017 because currently both Ranbir and Deepika are busy with their prior commitments.
While Ranbir Kapoor is working on Jagga JasoosAe Dil Hai Mushkil and Sanjay Dutt’s biopic in 2016, Deepika Padukone with no Bollywood release this year, is gearing up for her Hollywood debut in XXX: The Return of the Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel.

Have the Akhtars already welcomed Aditi Rao Hydari in their midst?

After 16 years of marriage, Farhan Akhtar and wife Adhuna announced their mutual separation and rumours suggest that it is allegedly the actor’s growing closeness to his Wazir co-star Aditi Rao Hydari that has apparently caused the rift and finally the break-up in his marriage.
While the couple announced that they were separating on mutual agreement, many believed that the Farhan-Adhuna split was a long time coming and his alleged liaison with Aditi just helped in nailing it further.
As per Bollywood Life, it all began on the sets of Wazirwhere sources revealed how the two would constantly stick to each other and would drop evident hints of being more than just friends. Even recently there were reports that the two are heading for a secret holiday together. However, considering the legal proceedings of Farhan’s divorce with Adhuna is still underway, the actor is refraining from talking about Aditi in public.
But recent reports suggest that the Akhtar family may have allegedly accepted and welcomed Aditi in their midst!
A leading daily recently reported how Aditi was seen accompanying Farhan’s family --- Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and Zoya Akhtar on a movie date. While the shutterbugs failed to capture this priceless moment, it is quite strange how Farhan didn’t join in the family outing.

Speculations are rife that Kapil Sharma and team have inked a deal with TV channel Sony for their brand new comedy show. And if whispers are to believed then the new show would be named Comedy Style.
Actor Sunil Grover, who played Gutthi in Comedy Nights with Kapil, had tweeted saying, 'I want to wear make-up soon. See you soon. Before monsoon.'
However, Preeti Simoes, creative director of the erstwhile Comedy Nights with Kapil, denied the speculations. "Right now we have no plan as such. We are in conversation with both networks Star and Sony and we are contemplating which one would be better for the comedy space. Star is a strong channel but doesn't have a good track record for comedy. We are keen on Sony but we are in no hurry. We will know only by mid-March," said Preeti.
When asked if Comedy Style is the name of Kapil's new show, Preeti denied the same and said, "No. Not at all. We are yet to decide on the name. We have not even decided on the name. Nothing has been fixed yet."
Comedy Nights With Kapil went off air in January this year.

The Top 10 Films That Will Rule The Box Office This Year

With the summer box office season coming to a close, it’s pretty clear which films are going to wind up as the biggest movies of the year. Jurassic WorldFurious 7Avengers: Age of ultronMinionsSpectre, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens look to be the titles destined to top end-of-year lists of the top grossers for 2015. Which means attention for the rest of the year shall focus on awards season, whether Star Wars can dethrone Avataron the all-time box office list, and — inevitably — the fortunes of next year’s crop of blockbuster contenders. I’m going to go out on a limb and say I think we can predict with some degree of accuracy which movies are going to rule 2016′s box office, and why. Superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy, and animated family fare will top next year’s charts in a big way, all of them either sequels, spinoffs, remakes, or adaptations of some sort.
I suspect the four top contenders will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,Captain America: Civil WarBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, andFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Too bad Warner didn’t title the last one Fantastic Beasts: Where To Find Them, then we’d have a battle of subtitled cinema. But that said, there are several others that demand attention and cannot be ignored as powerful contenders, many of which could indeed challenge the position of those other four movies at the top of the 2016 box office list.
Let’s look at the whole slate of rulers of next year’s releases, and what they have to offer. So, in no particular order…

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Opening in March, the full kickoff of the DC Comics shared cinematic universe is going to do monster business. Batman is a billion dollar brand, having topped that box office high-bar twice in a row with his last two films. Putting him alongside other superheroes seems like an easy bet for continuing that trend. Superman himself rebooted to the tune of $668 million in 2013′s Man of Steel, a figure restrained by the previous Superman reboot/revival’s relatively tepid response and fine but not spectacular $391 million. However, keep in mind that $668 million is what “slight underperforming”  looks like to the last son of Krypton, and that we not only have the added value of Batman but also the first-ever big screen Wonder Woman and Aquaman showing up, not to mention probably a Flash cameo and Cyborg in the mix.
It would be absurd and unreasonable to expect those bonuses to produce anything less than a big box office boost. Even if Batman v Superman were bad, I don’t believe that could prevent it from enjoying a blockbuster financial performance north of $800 million, since it’ll open massive around the world and just by the sheer power of the concept and Batman’s presence it should have at least moderate legs. So if it’s good or better, it should break $1 billion. If it’s great, then we’re probably talking Avengerslevel numbers or better. If it’s great, then I think it can match or topAvengers: Age of Ultron, and possibly The Avengers. But even if it manages that feat, can it beat Marvel’s next super-team blockbuster that opens just six weeks later?

Captain America: Civil War

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this will be Marvel’s biggest film yet. Yes, it’s a Captain America sequel, and Cap’s last movie performed at $714 million globally, making it the fifth-highest grossing Marvel Studios movie to date. However, that was a huge leap over his previous star-spangled outing, which clocked $370 million around the world just a few years earlier, and the same team from Winter Soldier in the driver’s seat for Civil War. More to the point, though, this is a Cap sequel that’s really an Avengers-level movie. It features a large cast, including some major newcomers in the form of Spider-Man, Black Panther, and more. Marvel is going to promote this as an event picture, something larger than just a Captain America sequel, because it can in fact be both.
The ace up Marvel’s sleeve is of course Spider-Man, who will interact with other heroes on the big screen for the first time. So it’s a sequel to that awesome Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie you loved, AND it’s got all of the Avengers, AND they fight each other, AND it introduces Spider-Man. If it’s as good as it looks, and as good as the creative team has the potential to make it, then we’re looking at a film that should achieve the same must-see repeat-viewing status of the original Avengers film, but with more theaters and more 3D receipts. I anticipate this will be the movie that performs the way everyone expected Avengers: Age of Ultron to perform (not to suggest Age of Ultron underperformed, it was a massive hit by any measure; I’m merely noting that it was for quite a while assumed it would pass the box office of its predecessor), and will become the highest grossing superhero movie in history. Meaning, yes, even if Batman v Superman surpasses the two Avengers movies on the all-time box office list, I still believe Civil War will end up the reigning champ.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

There are probably only two films that might sneak past the superhero battle royal movies mentioned above and steal the title of highest grossing film of the year, and a Harry Potter spinoff is probably one of them (the other being a spinoff of an even bigger franchise, but we’ll get to that in a moment). J.K. Rowling’s world of wizards brought in $7.7 billion at the worldwide box office and another $2+ billion in home entertainment, with five of the franchise’s eight entries topping $900+ million and the last movie topping $1.3 billion. Suffice to say, this is among the most popular and success properties in cinema history, with more films under it’s brand belt than most other modern film series.
The anticipation for a new Harry Potter-related movie, and one written by Rowling herself no less, should help enhance this movie’s buzz immensely. All it has to do is be good. If it can do that, then I think it’s pretty reasonable to expect it to join the $1 billion club, and if it’s great then it could catch fire and be a breakout akin to this year’s Furious 7 or Jurassic World. Regardless, the franchise connection alone pretty well guarantees this one a spot among 2016′s biggest earners

Finding Dory

I just explained the other day how Minions is on its way to becoming the second-highest grossing animated film in history, headed past $1 billion and destined to sit behind only Frozen on the all-time animation list. Well, this movie is the animated picture that will knock Minions right back out of that #2 position and could even challenge Frozenfor #1. The first Finding Nemo made $864 million… in 2003… without 3D tickets. When it got a 3D rerelease a few years ago, it added $72 million to its coffers, raising its all-time total to $936 million. That’s $1.2 billion in today’s dollars, folks. Meaning if this sequel can match the popularity of the original, it’s going to give Frozen a run for it’s money for sure.

What it must do, however, is not only retain the same family-friendly appeal of its predecessor, but also reach out and appeal to the original fans of the first film who are now in their teens or even early-20s (and might have small children of their own). Meaning it needs to incorporate a bit more humor aimed at older sensibilities without losing the G-rated sensibilities that allowed it to benefit from apparently endless theatrical rewatching by parents and children. Few animated franchises outside of Toy Story seem like such sure bets for topping $1 billion, but this is definitely one of them.

The Jungle Book

It’s early to call this one a likely top performer, but if you saw the footage at D23 this month then you know why this film already looks likely to wow audiences and amaze critics. Jon Favreau knows how to deliver great entertainment, and the imagery from this film was mind-blowing. Nothing you’ve seen in visual effects and CGI work for animals, creatures, and outdoor settings will prepare you for what you’ll see in this film, if the sizzle reel Disney unveiled is any hint of what to expect. Not that crazy-great effects and talking animals in and of itself guarantees blockbuster success, of course. No, what the footage also revealed was a beloved classic story revisited not only with grand scale but also with deep emotions.

I’m betting the footage and buzz is an accurate reflection of what’s coming, and it could turn out to be Disney’s biggest live-action adaptation yet. How high might it climb? The live-action Cinderella topped $542 million this year, with a March release date. The April release date for this new film is slightly better in terms of kids being out of school for Spring Break, and it moves the theatrical run closer to the start of summer box office season. It has to face the competition from Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War, as well as The HuntsmanAlice Through the Looking GlassX-Men: Apocalypse, plus perhaps Ratchet & Clank and The Angry Birds Movie. That sounds bad, but most of those films roll out after The Jungle Book releases, over a period of six weeks. That’s steady competition, but it leaves room for The Jungle Book to open big, hold strong, and get some legs under it. I expect a final tally north of $500+ million, more likely in the $700+ million range.
X-Men: Apocalypse

The X-Men franchise finally found the path to true box office glory last year with X-Men: Days of Future Past, by far the highest grossing entry in the superhero franchise at $748 million. That was a massive leap not only financially, but also for the size of the series’ fanbase. Audiences were so impressed they helped the movie perform like a Marvel Studios production, and next year’s new mutant picture is shaping up to provide audiences more of that comic book aesthetic wrapped around a dramatic, serious approach to superhero storytelling.
The franchise has a loyal following already, so the key is to retain the large influx of new viewers and turn them into solid fans who will keep coming back so long as the studio delivers the goods. Meaning Apocalypse seeks to deliver those goods in spades, and should have no trouble securing a healthy $700+ million for itself as it rides not only its own newly discovered coattails, but those of Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War if both of those films prove as good and as popular as seems likely. The audience good will coming off of those films will put theatergoers in the right mood to remember how much they enjoyed Days of Future Past and tune in to this new entry to complete the trifecta of early-summer superhero fun at the box office. My guess is this will happen, and it’ll result in the biggest win yet for the X-Men.

Film Review: ‘The Finest Hours’

'The Finest Hours' tells the story of a little-known yet fairly incredible 1950s rescue mission, in which a four-man band of Coast Guard troops went above and beyond the call of duty, steering out into impossible sea conditions in the dead of night to rescue a crippled oil tanker. So perhaps the worst one could say about Craig Gillespie’s film is that, rather than their finest hours, the whole cast and crew all put in a solid shift at the office making the movie, producing a perfectly entertaining, sometimes quite well-crafted disaster drama that nonetheless retreats from the memory almost as soon as the credits roll. The disappointing returns for Ron Howard’s recent seafaring saga 'In the Heart of the Sea' should give the producers pause, but the film certainly offers enough to provide a modest-sized audience with some respite from the horrors of the January multiplex.
Like 'The Perfect Storm', the film takes place off the coast of Massachusetts during a particularly vicious nor’easter, yet here the focus is divided evenly between a commercial ship in distress and the rescue mission heading straight for it. The former is the Pendleton, an oil tanker that split in half under rough seas in winter of 1952, leaving the fore section at the bottom of the sea, and the surviving sailors in its aft section adrift with no radio or commanding officers. The latter is the four-man Coast Guard boat trying to find the Pendleton, a task that goes from difficult to effectively impossible when night falls and the boat’s compass breaks.
Once it gets to the moment of truth, 'The Finest Hours' is a fully respectable nautical nailbiter. Unfortunately, it does take its sweet time getting its sea legs, opening up with the first-date-to-engagement courtship of young Coast Guard sailor Bernie Webber (a square-jawed, taciturn Chris Pine) and telephone operator Miriam (Holliday Grainger). Director Gillespie is a sure hand with sweet small-town repartee (see 'Lars and the Real Girl'), and the film does yeoman’s work to make Miriam into more than just a thankless girlfriend character, but it’s hard to get too invested in this long prelude, knowing their romance is only being set up to ratchet up the emotional stakes once one of them gets lost at sea.
Gillespie is clearly more comfortable off land, and as the storm rolls in, the film provides a dose of high-seas drama on the ill-fated oil tanker, as the boat’s chief engineer, Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck), takes de facto command of the vessel’s survivors, not all of whom are thrilled about suddenly taking orders from a scrawny, socially awkward bookworm. The boat is filled with stock types, from the He Man Scotsman (Graham McTavish) to the jolly cook (Abraham Benrubi) and insubordinate bad apple (Michael Raymond James), but Gillespie’s excitable camerawork — swooping up and down through the layers of the ship, following the crew as they shout messages through the corridors in an elaborate game of telephone — helps bring the ship to life. (Curiously, Boston native Affleck is one of the few actors here to eschew a broad New England accent, and perhaps uncoincidentally he registers as the cast standout.)
After a good deal of hemming and hawing back on shore, the local commanding officer (Eric Bana, sporting a patchy Southern accent and filling out an underwritten antagonist role) decides to send Bernie out to search for survivors in a 36-foot-boat, despite the locals’ assurance that a vessel of that size would never make it past the sandbar in current conditions. Bernie takes volunteers Richard (Ben Foster) and Andy (Kyle Gallner), as well as a woefully unprepared seaman (John Magaro) who just happened to be passing at the outpost for the night.
For the earlygoing at least, the film hits its audience with a barrage of nautical jargon and trusts them to fill in the details, and that decision pays off most fully in the harrowing, believable sequence in which Bernie and Co. climb giant wave after giant wave just to make it out to the open ocean, their tiny boat frequently submerged and rolled end-over-end.
Once Bernie gets out to sea, Gillespie crosscuts among his attempts to navigate choppy, snowy waters sans compass, Ray’s increasingly desperate measures to maximize the oil tanker’s chances, and Miriam, striding bravely into Coast Guard offices and getting her car stuck in a snowbank. Needless to say, the latter is the least engaging of the three threads, and Gillespie spends a bit too much time while ashore establishing a redemption narrative for Bernie, who once failed to rescue some locals in similar conditions. Like so many disaster films, 'The Finest Hours' fails to grasp that simple survival is all the motivation these characters need, and that it’s actually far nobler to show these Coasties heading into probable death simply because it’s their job than because of any specific personal demons.
In any case, the rescue scenes at sea are tautly edited and well staged, more concerned with emphasizing the cold, wet, disorienting conditions than awing with CGI setpieces. Composer Carter Burwell, working in a far more classic idiom here than his recent scores for 'Carol' and 'Anomalisa', helps craft a very old-school mood, and d.p. Javier Aguirresarobe does typically strong work. However, save for a few reliably impressive shots of massive waves, the dim 3D adds very little, and there’s something almost perverse about applying it to so many scenes where characters are dealing with zero-visibility conditions.

What is Katrina Kaif's Fitoor? Here's the Answer

Katrina Kaif is leaving no stone unturned in promoting her upcoming Fitoor. From TV appearances, interviews, photo ops and promotional activities, Katrina has been holding fort quite well.
So, from an impromptu shopping gig at Delhi's bustling Janpath, Katrina and her Fitoor co-star Aditya Roy Kapur, walked the ramp for designer Tarun Tahiliani's Spring Summer 2016 collection. Looking stunning in a white chiffon drape, which flattered her slim silhouette, Katrina admitted that her 'Fitoor' was her gym and she loved working out.
Though a self-confessed foodie, Katrina said: "I feast when I am happy and lose my appetite when I am stressed."
The actress, who has been inundated with questions pertaining to her personal life, said: "I don't let my personal life affect my professional life and vice versa. It's important to strike a balance." Something, which she is very good at.
Though, her co-star Aditya admitted that very often one wondered what Katrina was thinking.
Katrina, laughing, said, "Come on. If you see me in that zone, you have to realize that there is some tragic or dramatic film unfolding in my head. I get lost in my thoughts and people think its arrogance."
After Delhi, team Fitoor will head to Jaipur, where Aditya plans to woo Katrina in trueAashiqui style with a truck full of roses.

Can’t take freedom of speech for granted in democracy: Kamal Haasan

Recalling that the rise of Hitler in Germany and imposition of emergency in India came through normal democratic process, actor Kamal Haasan said "constant vigil" is required to safeguard freedom of speech in a democracy.
"Democracy is often touted as the only bastion of freedom of speech. It is a work in progress. Constant vigil is necessary to safeguard it," Haasan said at the annual India Conference of Harvard University last evening.
"It is only through the offices of democracy that Adolf Hitler rose to the power. In the Indian political history, emergency was promulgated and voices were silenced," he reminded.
In his keynote address, the 'Vishwaroopam' star, who is a part of the reform committee that is going to recommend changes in the functioning of Central Board of Film Certification in India, said freedom of speech should not be taken for granted.
"I have taken the opportunity to put on record here and in India we can't take freedom of speech for granted and complacently think that democracy automatically means freedom of speech," Haasan said.
He, however, pointed out that he is not criticising the democracy of India and, in fact, is proud of it and wants the country to set an example for the whole world.
"Not only India, but the world is in transition. The world is going to face new challenges, find new opportunities. We want India not to be complacent, but set world standards," he added.
Haasan said "religion in politics" is not healthy.
"What Nehruji spoke of once of unity in diversity, now we are trying to lose it very fast. In a world of open source, protectionism cannot work like medieval times.
"Those evangelising democracy nowadays want us to believe that it is the only hope for freedom of speech. I, as an artist, believe that freedom of speech is separate from the ruling political state."

Marriage is definitely on the cards: Priyanka Chopra

Actor Priyanka Chopra has hinted that she might soon tie the knot. While talking to a magazine, the actor said that marriage will happen for sure.
“Marriage is definitely on the cards, but will happen when the time is right. It will happen when it is destined to,” she was quoted as saying by the magazine Bazaar Bride.
Opening up about her take on romance, Priyanka emphasized that her prince charming should be someone who can keep her happy and entertained at all times.
“I get bored easily, so a man who can keep me engaged is surely worth it,” she added.
Priyanka is undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stars at the present. The 33-year-old, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed Bajirao Mastani, is on a roll as she is taking the global circuits by storm with her recent brush with Hollywood.
Her TV series Quantico has impressed the audience in the West and Chopra is hopping from one red carpet event to another.
Priyanka graced the cover for the second anniversary issue of Harper’s Bazaar Bride. On the cover, the Desi girl is seen in a modern bride avatar and she exudes power, beauty and confidence like never before.
Styled by Divyak D’Souza, the actress is wearing a Dior jacket, top by Anamika Khanna, Lehenga by Abrham and Thakore. Of course, the highlight of the look are Christian Louboutin shoes.

Priyanka might be enjoying the praise coming her way for her performance in an international TV show lately, but the actor is certain that she won’t compromise on her projects back in India. Currently, there’s a lot of buzz around her upcoming film, Jai Gangaajal, the trailer of which features her in a very different avatar. She plays a police officer in the movie.

Most recently, Priyanka turned a superhero for a gaming app. She took to social media and posted a picture of her animated character Ms. Marvel from the game, Marvel Avengers Academy. Priyanka has given her voice for the character.
On Instagram, she captioned the picture, “From Miss World to Ms. Marvel what a ride! I’ve always wanted to be a super hero, so it was amazing to give life to Ms. Marvel in MARVEL Avengers Academy. She’s a very human superhero.”

Sanam Teri Kasam: Massive Melodrama

Love stories starring new faces are always a risky proposition as there is no way to tell if the audience will accept it or not. Though an honest effort has gone into making Sanam Teri Kasam, we cannot help but feel that with a little more finesse, the film could have had a shot at success.
Saraswati (Mawra Hocane) is a typical 'Ugly Betty' from a conservative South Indian family, who is dejected after facing countless marital rejections, which is hampering the matrimonial plans of her younger sister.
When Inder (Harshvardhan Rane), the resident bad boy with a dark past, falls for her, he decides to help her get hitched to an 'IIT, IIM Brahmin' boy as per her wishes instead of confessing his feelings for her. But things get complicated when Saraswati's father suspects her of having a fling with Inder and disowns her. This brings the two closer to each other in ways the duo could have never imagined.
Pakistani actress Mawra, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film, is quite easy on the eyes, though she does tend to overdo the 'poor little girl' act at times, which can get on your nerves. Rane is blessed with an impressive physique, but that doesn't prevent the lad from putting in an honest effort as far as acting is concerned, though he still has a long way to go. However, the chemistry between the two is decent enough.
The film's plot does have merit and had the directors applied a bit more finesse, they could have served a palatable dish. The melodrama quotient is way too high and after a point of time, one gets tired of seeing every character weep buckets. If that was not all, the second half goes on and on and on, a trait that has ruined many a film.
The music of the film is decent enough and the movie has been mostly shot at real locations, without making the actors run across snow-clad valleys, which is a refreshing change.
The 'doomed love' angle does have its charm and Sanam Teri Kasam does tug at your heart-strings, though not with consistent regularity. The film does have a few silly moments and leaps of logic, but let us not hold it against the makers as their hearts seem to be in the right place.
In conclusion, crisp editing, less melodrama and better writing would have worked wonders for the movie.

Racism, intolerance not specific to India: Sonam

Mumbai: Against the backdrop of a Tanzanian woman student allegedly beaten up and stripped in Bengaluru, actress Sonam Kapoor has said the issues of racism and intolerance are not India-specific and are prevalent across the world.
"Racism exists all over the world, it is not specific to India. But the reason education has always been my favourite category is because it is something which makes people aware and less ignorant.
"It makes people take decisions which are a little more thoughtful as opposed to behaving like hooligans and 'junglee'...," Sonam told reporters when asked if India had become racist and intolerant.
Criticising the recent incident involving the Tanzanian woman, the 30-year-old actress said she too has faced racism.
"It was a very badly done thing (referring to Bengaluru incident). I do not think racism and intolerance are specific to India. It's something that is across the globe. I don't think we should say only Indians are like that. I've faced racism in the world always," she said.
The 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' star was speaking at the L'Oreal Paris 'Women of Worth' awards nomination ceremony, in association with NDTV. The award will felicitate the achievements of ordinary women who have achieved extraordinary success.
Sonam also said that the issue of pay disparity exists in Bollywood, and she has taken a conscious decision to work with people who will give the actress her worth.
"I do not work with people who do not respect me enough to give me my worth. That's always been my stand. That's why I always work with directors and producers and companies which give me what I deserve and give me respect," she said.
"Otherwise I take a stand. But everybody does not have that luxury...I believe there is pay disparity. It's upto you whether you want to encourage that or not," she added.
The 'Women of Worth' award ceremony will be held on March 28, 2016, in Mumbai.
